Annual Holiday Sweepstakes & Elections

This week we will hold our Annual Holiday Sweepstakes where we raise money for our Dayton Rotary Foundation. It’s a fun event you don’t want to miss!. Be sure to pay for your $50 for your ticket to be entered into the prize drawing either online ahead of time or bring it with you to the meeting. Don’t forget to bring your unwrapped gift of $30 or more value to place on the gift table and be sure to wear your festive holiday attire for the contest. We will also have some great silent auction items to bid on and will hold a 50/50 drawing where the winner will take half the pot home that day! And finally, we will be voting for officers, directors and trustees.

Rotary Roundtable

We are taking a different approach this year and turn our Club Assembly meeting into a Rotary Roundtable session. We, the leaders of the club, want to hear from YOU and have an engaging discussion, rather than ramble on about things we think are of value. We will be interacting with members in small groups and encourage everyone to get to know each other better.

A Transformative Initiative

Our guest speakers for this meeting will be President of Kettering College, Nate Brandstater, along with Ivan Riapolov and several Kettering College Ukrainian students. Last year we were all shocked by the images of the invasion of Ukraine. The destruction of schools that disrupted lives of young people whose futures of education were pitched into uncertainty.  35 of those young people were given the opportunity to continue their education at Kettering College.  We will hear an update on what has been done within the Ukrainian Student Initiative, where Kettering Health partnered with Kettering College to host the 35 students who hopefully will stay in Ohio to serve in and contribute to our community of healthcare professionals.

Rotary on the Road

This week we will visit the Richard W. Schwartz Center for Innovation for Rotary on the Road. (3300 Kettering Boulevard) 12:00 NOON – 1:15 PM. We will have lunch and hear about the Innovation Center and then have an opportunity for a tour of the facility. You MUST be signed up to attend this meeting as maximum capacity is
50 people.

UD’s Approach as an Anchor Institution

Darlene Weaver is the Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Dayton. She is the first externally hired provost in the university’s history and the first woman to serve in the role. She will discuss her new role at UD and discuss UD’s approach as an anchor institution.
